14 Jun Psychology A level – Visit to London Zoo
Year 12 Psychology students attended London Zoo on Wednesday 13th June for a phobias lecture with Dr. John Clifford. They discussed the causes, symptoms, and treatments of different types of phobias; Dr. Clifford certainly had many stories to tell from his wealth of experience in the area. The students were lucky enough to take part in a hypnosis session used in the ‘Friendly spider program’ currently running at the zoo. The success of the hypnotherapy was then put to the test as they had the opportunity to hold a spider. We had mixed results with some students extremely comfortable holding the spider and others still displaying some phobic symptoms! A great day was had by all, and students will be able to draw on this experience when studying their Unit 3 paper next year.
